You do not need to take all the classes for an associate’s degree before transferring to most universities. (The exception might be a traditional state university that requires an associate’s degree to transfer).

Graduate students can use the community college to save money as well. Prerequisites or foundation courses can be taken at a community college if the prerequisite is a lower division course. Most Introduction classes can be taken as lower division courses, as an example.
